This Privacy Policy explains how Challenge Note ("we", "our", "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information. Challenge Note is a habit-tracking and personal goals app that lets you build habits, keep notes and tasks, and join challenges and marathons with other users.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in (including with Sign in with Apple), we collect your name, email address, username, and profile photo through our authentication provider, Clerk.

Content you create

We store the habits, notes, tasks, challenges, marathons, reminders, and body-index entries you create, so they can sync across your devices and be shown to other participants in shared challenges where applicable.

Verification photos

Some challenges and marathons (for example, weight-loss goals) require photo verification. Photos you submit are uploaded securely and analyzed automatically to extract results and help detect cheating. These photos are used only for verification purposes within the challenge you submitted them to.

Diagnostics

We use crash and performance monitoring tools to help us find and fix bugs. This may include technical data such as device type, OS version, and app logs at the time of a crash.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, we use your device's push token to send reminders about habits, challenges, and reminders you have set.

How we use your information

• To operate core features: habit tracking, streaks, notes, tasks, challenges, and marathons.
• To verify challenge progress via photo analysis and prevent cheating.
• To let you connect and compete with friends you invite or who invite you.
• To send reminders and notifications you've opted into.
• To diagnose crashes and improve app stability.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the app:

• Clerk — authentication and account management.
• Convex — our backend database and file storage.
• RevenueCat — subscription/purchase management (in-app purchases are currently disabled and not active for any user).

These providers only receive the data necessary to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Data retention & deletion

Your content is retained while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your authentication record and your associated data from our database, in line with Apple's account deletion requirements.

Children's privacy

Challenge Note is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
